Located in central Argentina along the Suquía River, Córdoba is the second-largest city in the country and an important cultural, educational, and economic center. The city was founded in 1573 by the Spanish conquistador Jerónimo Luis de Cabrera and quickly became a key administrative and religious center in colonial South America. Córdoba gained prominence with the establishment of the National University of Córdoba in 1613, one of the oldest universities in the Americas.
The city preserves a rich colonial heritage, particularly in the historic Jesuit Block and Estancias, which are recognized as a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Notable landmarks include the Córdoba Cathedral and the Cabildo of Córdoba.
