Stuttgart is the capital of the German state of Baden-Württemberg and one of the country’s major economic and cultural centers. The city has a population of 633,484 inhabitants and is located in southwestern Germany, set in a basin surrounded by hills, vineyards, and forests along the Neckar River. First documented in the 10th century as a stud farm, Stuttgart later developed into the seat of the Counts and Dukes of Württemberg.

During the Industrial Revolution, Stuttgart emerged as an important center of engineering and manufacturing.
